Concussion & TBI: We can help you rebuild your brain

Post-concussive syndrome is a set of symptoms that may continue for weeks, months, or a year or more after a concussion. Patients often have a variety of different neurological, psychological, and physical symptoms. They may suffer from a variable degree of fatigue, insomnia, irritability, headaches, sensitivity to light or sound, dizziness while looking at moving objects, hypersensitivity to sitting in a moving car, anxiety, depression, personality changes, apathy, or aggressive behavior.

Dr. Fotuhi, with his expertise in the fields of memory, migraine, sleep, anxiety, and dizziness, has put together a successful program for such patients.

ADD & ADHD: We can sharpen your focus

Paying attention is the single most important practice for improving your memory. Attention is the system by which you focus all of your senses on one issue, and is the first step in the memory consolidation process, making it critical in forming new memories. The more you pay attention, the more likely it is that the information you want to remember will be firmly registered in your brain. For individuals with ADHD, this presents a major challenge because they often have difficulty remembering things because they cannot focus their senses on encoding the information.

We offer a comprehensive program which includes a drug-free treatment for children or adults with ADD or ADHD, called neurofeedback.  This is a safe and effective therapy that has been supported by numerous placebo-controlled clinical trials.

Memory: We can boost your memory

As you grow older, some degree of wear and tear in your body is inevitable. You may walk slower and need glasses or hearing aids. Therefore it’s reasonable to expect that your memory would show some signs of wear and tear too. The good news is there are interventions you can do to improve your cognition just like there are interventions to improve your physical health. By learning what is causing your memory loss, we can devise a program for you to help address these causes.

Memory loss is a symptom that can be due to a number of different illnesses, among them diabetes, anxiety, and even from medication side effects.

The Brain Fitness Program will identify what factors are causing your memory loss and address them through a number of treatment interventions.

Anxiety & Insomnia: We can help you manage your stress

Anxiety, depression, and insomnia can significantly harm your brain in the long term.  Patients with chronic anxiety and poor sleep may find it difficult to function normally in day-to-day life.  Neurofeedback is a new treatment modality that can complement or replace medications used for these conditions.  Meditation training is another natural method that we offer for reducing your stress.

At our brain center, we will assess for potential causes of your anxiety and insomnia and provide you with a comprehensive treatment protocol that includes neurofeedback, stress reduction, counseling, and brain coaching.
